About myself before I start blogging:
Past: I was born and raised in Hong Kong – quite literally half way around the world from where I am now because I fly over the North Pole to get home.
Recently graduated from Penn with a degree in Psychology and Marketing. In this blog, I’ll share some of the famous experiments that my professors have repeated many times throughout my 4 years. It’s just fun to know them.
Penn always talks about putting Knowledge into Practice. So, being a Penn grad now, I like to say I put my Psych knowledge into practice, which I guess is how they came up with the field of marketing. Whenever I tell people I study Psychology and Marketing, they say “so can you read my mind?” or “oooo you trick people into buying things”. As much as there is a bad rap around the commercialized usage of what I study, I’m more interested in using these knowledge to help myself. I use them to strengthen my relationship with family and friends, to be aware of what marketers are doing, and hopefully to make me a better person overall. Real talk here. and after you read this blog and learn about some practical applications of psych, I hope you’ll be able to improve your lives too. I mean, who doesn’t want to live better?
Now: I moved to Chicago 2 months ago because I’m starting a new job – my first job – in the city. I’m working at Nielsen doing data analytics. The experience has been great so far and I anticipate doing a lot of my new adventures with my new friends from work (shoutout to my Nielsen peeps!) Aside from the psych portion, this blog will also involve my food and travel journey in Chicago – the famous Windy City, which is seriously, SO WINDY. They weren’t kidding. It’ll include new food places (most likely with a heavy emphasis on brunch), fun things I do in Chicago before it gets freezing cold, and also my own cooking/baking journey (with recipes)!!
So, stay tuned! 🙂
p.s. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on my blog. What you like about it, what you want to see more of, and what you don’t like about it. Believe me, honest feedback is one of the most valuable presents.
Hi Steph! I’m so excited you’re blogging – can’t wait to read. Things I would like to see include:

– Your baking adventures
– Pictures of Chicago
– Trends in data analytics
– Your lovely self back in the PHL
